Fort Irwin is home of the National Training Center. They are located in San Bernardino County, in southern California, about 35 miles north of the town of Barstow. The installation was established by President Franklin Roosevelt as a sub-installation of Camp Haan in Riverside, California. In 1981, the US Army created the National Training Center at Fort Irwin to train Armored Brigade Combat Teams to “Win the First Fight.”
