  • Fort Sill

    Fort Sill is located in southwest Oklahoma, Comanche County, and adjacent to the city of Lawton. It is 90 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, the state capitol, and 50 miles north of Wichita Falls, Texas on Interstate 44. Fort Sill serves as home of the United States Army Field Artillery School as well the Marine Corps’ site for Field Artillery MOS school, United States Army Air Defense Artillery School, the 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade and the 75th Field Artillery Brigade. Fort Sill is also one of the four locations for Army Basic Combat Training and many tenant activities. The Fires Center of Excellence trains, educates and develops Soldiers and leaders; creates and develops capabilities; engages, collaborates and partners with stakeholders; sustains and provides a fires force to support the joint warfighting commander across the spectrum of operations in the joint, interagency, intergovernmental and multinational environments.

  • Fort Stewart

    Fort Stewart traces its history back to November 1940, when the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Training Center was officially designated as Camp Stewart, in honor of General Daniel Stewart, a native of Liberty County who fought with Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox) during the Revolution. Since then, Fort Stewart’s size and strategic location led to important roles in our Nation’s defense. The U.S. Army Garrison Fort Stewart is responsible for organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling garrison support and service activities, including overall management of the garrison workforce.

  • Incirlik AB

    The U.S. Engineering Group began construction of the base located approximately 250 miles southeast of Ankara, Turkey, in the spring of 1951. February 21, 1955, the base was officially named Adana Air Base. In mid-1975, the Turkish government announced that all U.S. bases in Turkey would close and transfer control to the Turkish military in response to an arms embargo the U.S. Congress imposed on Turkey for using U.S.-supplied equipment during the invasion of Cyprus. Only Incirlik AB and Izmir Air Station remained open due to their NATO missions, but all other non-NATO activities at these locations ceased.

Joint Base Charleston (Weapons Station), approximately 10 miles from the Air Base and 15 miles from downtown Charleston, is in the town of Goose Creek in Berkeley County. Both are located in the heart of the Lowcountry, the portion of historic South Carolina where pine and oak forests meet with the natural beauty of Intercoastal Waterway marshes and gorgeous barrier island beaches. With a rich military history and a moderate cost of living, the area has attracted many military retirees that now call the Lowcountry home.
